DURHAM, N.C.--Duke University men’s soccer standout Zach “Chachi” Mathers became the 17th Blue Devil all time to be selected in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft today as the No. 35 pick by the Seattle Sounders. Mathers, the 15th pick of the second round, joins former Blue Devil Garth Lagerwey who is the general manger and president of the Sounders.
Recapping Cachi’s Career
The Keller, Texas native played all over the field for the Blue Devils during his career. Mathers is a three-time All-ACC pick, including first team honors in 2015, as well as earning All-ACC Freshman Team honors as a rookie.
