DURHAM, N.C. – Duke sophomore goalkeeper Ruthie Jones has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, while senior defender Caitlin Cosme earned TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week Honorable Mention status coming off a 0-0 draw against No. 14 Vanderbilt on Sunday.
In the regular season finale and final home contest of 2020-21, the seventh-ranked Blue Devils held a talented Vanderbilt offense to zero goals, with Jones collecting two saves on the day. The Charlotte, N.C., native had a game-saving sequence in the fourth minute of overtime, as she caught a high-arching shot by Vanderbilt midfielder Madison Elwell and threw the ball back into play as she was falling behind her own goal line.
