The noise you heard, still reverberating somewhere in the universe, was the sound of balls bouncing off the rim, the backboard, the basket stanchions, and goodness knows what else as ACC standards for futility from 3-point range were approached last season.
This was not a matter of a team or two failing to find the range from long distance. Nor was this a matter of modest general decline. While it’s true 60 percent of ACC teams hit at a breakeven rate or better from beyond the arc, most squads that did fall short did so with a resounding clunk.
