The Duke Women’s Basketball team recently received their first player for next year’s freshman class, as 5-star versatile wing Leaonna Odom verbally committed to join the Blue Devils for the 2016-17 season. Odom is from Chaminade College Prep High School in Los Alamitos, CA and has become one of the top players in the country for her class.

Leonna Odom averaged 17.6 points and 7.5 rebounds last year playing the guard and forward positions at 6-1. The story of how she actually picked Duke is a very interesting one, saying that when she was 7 years old she saw a toy vending machine at the supermarket with mini-balls from several different college teams and decided “Whatever school I get, that is where I am going to go”.
