GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke’s Second Varsity Eight was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week Tuesday after defeating Clemson and North Carolina in the Carolina Cup, held Saturday on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.
The Blue Devils, who made their spring season debut under new head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno, recorded an impressive time of 6:37.6 to edge the Tigers (6:39.6) and Tar Heels (7:00.4) as Duke captured four races, claiming the V8, 2V8, V4 and exhibition 3V4.
Duke tallied victories in four of the five races it competed in and finished second overall with 89 points, behind Clemson’s 90 and the Tar Heels’ 78.
