DURHAM – The Duke baseball team fell to Wake Forest, 11-0, on Friday night in the first game of a three-game ACC series at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham.
Senior Joey Loperfido finished 2-for-4 with a double. Loperfido contributed two of Duke's six hits on the evening, including Duke's lone extra-base hit.
In a full staff approach, graduate student Richard Brereton made the first start of his Duke career, striking out four in 1.1 scoreless innings of work.
A scoreless game through the fifth inning, Wake Forest broke the stalemate in the top of the sixth inning with a four-run frame highlighted by a three-run home run.
