The White Sox are rewarding minor-league manager Omar Vizquel for his handling of some of the organization’s top prospects.
Vizquel is being promoted from Class A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham for the 2019 season. Chris Getz, the Sox’s director of player development, indicated that the progress of many prospects under Vizquel’s tutelage weighed heavily in the decision. Vizquel guided the Dash to the best overall record in the Carolina League at 84-54.

“You look at how (Vizquel) matched up with the team he had last year,” Getz said.
