Tim Anderson hopes new glasses help at the plate

Tim Anderson is the rare baseball player who doesn’t need outside prompting to get his eyes checked. The new glasses he donned for the first time Monday night against the Yankees were the product of a process he initiated all on his own.

“Timmy just told us he wanted to get his eyes checked, so he did,” manager Rick Renteria said. “Obviously, he's wearing the glasses that he wears now. He's trying to get comfortable with them. He'd had them for at least two-and-a-half weeks, three weeks, but he's kind of been hesitant to put them on. I know [hitting coach Todd Steverson] spoke to him, that if he's going to use them, feel comfortable with them, start using them in the workouts, [batting practice].
