The highlight of my Yoan Moncada Day came in his first plate appearance early in the bottom of the second inning.
I took a seat in a section behind home plate to get a closer view for his real Chicago debut. Fans ripped up in applause as he walked to the plate and took dry swings on the Dodgers’ side of the infield.
Then they booed his first two called strikes. A guy behind me wanted the home plate umpire fired. (All umpires, really.)
Then, Moncada started taking close pitches for balls and fans cheered. Loudly.
