Like many other couch potatoes, I vowed last year during quarantine to cut back on my sports consumption after the pandemic.

1. ESPN’s No. 1 hot-take artist, Stephen A. Smith, said something ignorant about Shohei Ohtani, suggesting the Japanese star could not be the face of baseball because he needs an interpreter.

Smith then doubled down after some initial criticism on Twitter, only to reverse course and apologize when it became national news and ESPN was suddenly under fire.
