Antoine Vermette redeems himself, scores winner for Blackhawks

That's one way to prove you belong in the lineup: Score a goal, save a season.

Antoine Vermette beat Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen at the 5-minute, 37-second mark of double overtime to give the Blackhawks a 5-4 victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals. Vermette, a healthy scratch in Game 3, made coach Joel Quenneville look smart for reinserting him Saturday by scoring the game-winner to end a wild night at the United Center. Maybe Vermette just had fresh legs.

What's French for redemption?

"The emotion, in the corner, it was pretty fun, the celebration," said Vermette, who wanted no part of a personal narrative.
