Getting to know Mets pitching prospect Christian Scott

Tonight in Tampa Bay, Christian Scott will take the mound for the Mets in his major league debut. The 24-year-old right-handed pitcher has put up impressive strikeout and walk rates in five starts with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets to start his season, and he has a 3.20 ERA at that level in 25.1 innings of work.

Coming into spring training, Scott ranked fifth on Amazin’ Avenue’s list of the Mets’ top prospects—and was the highest-ranking pitcher on the list. Here’s some what Steve Sypa wrote about him at the time:

Scott worked on his four-seam fastball during the Arizona Fall League and over the winter of 2022, and its emergence may be one of the reasons the right-hander was so good in 2023.
