Graham Potter 'rejects Ajax because he feels the project isn't right' - with Man United boss Erik ten Hag still a leading contender to take over at his former club

Graham Potter has reportedly turned down the opportunity to manage Ajax, potentially leaving the door open to Erik ten Hag should he depart Manchester United.

Potter, 50, had emerged as one of the leading candidates to take over at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Ajax sit fifth in the Eredivisie table and have been nursed by caretaker manager John van't Schip since they sacked Maurice Steijn in October.

However, he has rejected their overtures because he feels the project isn't right for him, according to The Athletic.

Mail Sport reported a couple of weeks ago that former manager Ten Hag would be Ajax's first choice if he is available.
