Mike Minor mulls retirement after shoulder injury, 'tough' 2022 season

Mike Minor, unable to play catch without significant pain in his left shoulder, saw his 2022 season come to an end Friday when he was placed on the 15-day injured list.

For the 34-year-old left-hander, who struggled all year with a 4-12 record and a 6.06 ERA in his lone season with the Cincinnati Reds, it may represent the end of his 11-year career.

“I’m not closing the door, but it’s barely cracked,” said Minor, who will be a free agent. “It’s mostly if I get the itch to play, then maybe. It also goes along the same lines of if I feel good.
