Zika virus concerns have led to the relocation of a December tournament that includes Xavier's women's basketball team.
Instead of holding the 2016 Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, event host Sports Tours International has moved the event to Las Vegas due to concerns over the risk of an outbreak.
Just last month, Xavier's men's basketball team's November tournament destination was changed as well. ESPN cited Zika as the driving force behind the Puerto Rico Tip-Off's move to Florida.
The Zika virus can be contracted from the bites of infected mosquitoes and be passed from a woman to her fetus, causing birth defects.
