CINCINNATI - Joe Gellenbeck and Zac Lowther were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after leading Xavier baseball to a 4-0 week and a berth in this week's BIG EAST Championships in Omaha, Neb.
The Musketeers earned a win over crosstown rival Cincinnati and a weekend sweep over Georgetown, scoring an incredible 43 runs over four games to finish the regular season 29-25 (10-6 BIG EAST).
Gellenbeck earns the honor after putting together one of the best weeks of his season, hitting .467 (7-for-15), scoring five times, homering twice and driving in six runs.
