Jessie Gentle scored her first goal of the year in the 69th minute to lift the University of Wyoming soccer team to a 2-1 win over Fresno State on Sunday.
Standout Shaina Ashouri started the scoring in the 40th minute to put the Cowgirls ahead initially before Fresno State answered with an equalizer just under two minutes later. Alisha Bass assisted on both Ashouri and Gentle's goals for Wyoming. Michaela Stark led Wyoming with three shots.
The Cowgirls held on in the second half as Fresno State tallied 11 shots in the last 45 minutes. Georgia Rowntree, and the Cowgirls, improved to 8-7-1 after a four-save performance.
