Interview with Spencer

Athletic Experience:

Four years as the net-minder in high school hockey. 3 years of youth football, and of course several years of youth baseball. You can't grow up in St. Louis and not spend a little time on the diamond.

Favorite Athlete:

Alex Pietrangelo. That kid can play some hockey.

Favorite Sports Moment:

Game 6 of the 2011 World Series. Talk about a roller coaster ride. Every Cardinal fan can look back on that game fondly. Sorry Rangers' Fans.

Favorite Thing About Sports:

Rivalries. Nothing beats a Blues vs. Redwings or Cardinals vs. Reds game here in St. Louis. The players don't like each other. The fans don't like each other. It's a massive gathering of hate all under one roof, which gives you a pretty darn electric atmosphere.

Favorite Sport to Watch:

St. Louis is a baseball town, but it comes second to hockey in my book. The game is full of end-to-end nonstop action. Players use speed, elegance, grit and skill all at the same time. Sure, other sports posses these aspects as well, but a linebacker is not smacking a quarterback into boards at 25 MPH (no disrespect to football). To me, hockey is able to take some of the best aspects of other sports and improve them. Therefore, it is quite an entertaining sport to watch.

Least Favorite Thing About Sports:

I am all for player safety, but some of these new rules are watering down the product. Sports are full of aggression, and with aggression come injuries. Injury is an unfortunate part of the game, but you can not destroy the game by trying to prevent it.
