Interview with Andrew

What got you into Mixed Martial Arts?

I stumbled upon “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show in 2006 and it only got worse from there. I haven’t missed a pay-per-view or fight night since.

Most memorable MMA moment?

There have been so many. Randy Couture coming back from retirement to beat Tim Sylvia for the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2007 was incredible. Watching Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera knock out Brendan Schaub after an 18-month layoff, major hip and knee surgeries, and a KO loss is his last fight was pretty surreal as well.

Favorite fighters?

It’s hard to look to one fighter in particular, as each event and each fight is so different. I admire guys like BJ Penn, Benson Henderson, Lyoto Machida, and Jon Jones for their tenacity and creativity.

What is your athletic background?

I ruled the tetherball courts in middle school. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, which I’ve been doing for about two years.

Favorite sport to watch besides MMA?

College football. I’m a diehard University of Oregon Ducks fan.

Favorite MMA quote?

“They say the only way to kill a lion is with a rear naked choke. I would just kick it in the head." - Bas Rutten.
