Writers who cover Big Ten teams, 39 writers to be exact, took part in the unofficial, official preseason poll conducted by cleveland.com. But not too many of them nabbed the Wisconsin Badgers to win the West division nor any player to win Big Ten Player of the Year.
Of the 39 writers that cover the Big Ten, just two of them selected the Badgers to win the West division. The Iowa Hawkeyes were the overwhelming favorite to win gathering 32 of the total votes. Second came Nebraska with three votes, followed by Wisconsin, Northwestern with a single vote and Iowa and Minnesota both getting a vote for a tie.
