Crazylegs Classic: Longtime participants turn race weekend into annual family traditions

The Crazylegs Classic ironmen and ironwomen return year after year to navigate the 8-kilometer run or 2-mile walk. What make this group ironclad is appearances in 25 or more of the annual events, one of Madison’s rites of springs.

Their Crazylegs memories revolve around spending time with family and friends, and lending support to University of Wisconsin athletics, which receives proceeds from the run.

Saturday marks the 35th annual edition of the Crazylegs run, which begins on Capitol Square and ends on the field at Camp Randall Stadium. The walk was added to the festivities in 1987.
