Chris Ash, a former UW assistant, now looks to lead Rutgers to the top of the Big Ten

Chicago — Chris Ash believes Rutgers can win a Big Ten championship.

Yes, Rutgers, which finished 1-7 in the Big Ten last season and has a .250 winning percentage in Big Ten play in its two years in the league.

Ash, who coached Wisconsin's secondary in 2010 and served as co-defensive coordinator with Charlie Partridge in 2011 and '12, isn't fazed by those numbers.

"It was a new team in the Big Ten and it is in a state that is loaded with high-school talent," Ash said Monday during the first day of the Big Ten preseason meetings.
