- The Islanders opened up a new era in their home opener Friday night, playing their first regular-season game away from the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island at their new home — the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
"It was a great atmosphere," head coach Jack Capuano told reporters afterward. "You don’t really know what it’s going to feel like until you get out there, but I thought the fans were into it, it was loud. Obviously a different atmosphere than the Coliseum, but I think the guys were looking forward to this game and dropping the puck tonight.
