It’s a very strong sign things are off course when even your best stuff turns out badly.
The Winnipeg Jets played a swift and vigorous first period Thursday night at the MTS Centre, outshooting the Boston Bruins 18-11 and out-chancing them decidedly.
There was even still some positive energy present from Monday’s major signing of defenceman Dustin Byfuglien to a five-year contract extension.
All of it was for naught on this night.
The Jets came out of that energetic first period down 3-2, undone by their defensive miscues as has been the case for most of the NHL season, and it snowballed to a 6-2 defeat to the Bruins in front of 15,294 customers.
