Gold grabs gold

STEINBACH — Sometimes, the best competition is between friends.

The gold-medal game of the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games boys basketball tournament was a shining example, featuring 13 second-half lead changes before Winnipeg Gold grabbed the title with an 80-75 victory over Winnipeg Blue.

"It was a great experience," said Gold forward Tiernan Marshall, a 16-year-old from Maples Collegiate, who led his team with 23 points in Wednesday’s final. "It’s so great to be around here. Winnipeg Blue is still family. It’s so good to be around friends, family and have everyone supporting us.

"It’s a great overall experience.
