Capitals ground the Jets 5-3

The Washington Capitals continued their winning ways, grounding the Winnipeg Jets 5-3 on a Wednesday night showdown at the Verizon Center. Evgeny Kuznetsov led the Capitals offensively with a three point night, including a third period goal that sealed the Caps. With a New York Rangers loss to Montreal tonight, the Caps pulled to within three standing points of the Metro Division lead.

Justin William started the Caps off immediately, scoring a tally just 1:12 into the game to give the Caps a 1-0 lead. It wouldn’t last very long, as Andrew Ladd and Tyler Myers would score first period goals to lead the Jets to a 2-1 first period lead.
