EUGENE, Ore. -- Hunter Veith is in sixth place in the Decathlon with 4,242 points after the first five events at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field.
Veith opened the day with a personal best 10.66 in the 100 meters to finish fifth. After a long jump of 25-4.5/7.71m he moved up to third overall in the Decathlon competition with 1,925 points. A 41-8.75/12.72m mark in the shot put then dropped his overall point total to fifth, just 115 points out of first.
