Jody Adams-Birch looked at her bench 1:12 into the game Friday and pointed at junior guard Tamara Lee. The Shockers trailed Arkansas State 8-0 and needed a spark.
Lee provided it with a career-high 20 points in 37 minutes off the bench in Wichita State’s 69-51 win.
“My teammates just helped me just be patient,” Lee said. Lee made 6 of 13 shots, 5 of 10 from three-point range. “That’s what I’ve been doing and my time will come.”
The Shockers (3-4) have won back-to-back games and play at Missouri next Friday.
Wichita State outscored Arkansas State 20-7 in the final eight minutes of the quarter to lead 20-15.
