Six takeaways from Western Michigan's overtime win against Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, MI – After the 2016 season ended with the second bowl game in Eastern Michigan football history, the 2-5 start to 2017 isn’t what the Eagles’ players, coaches and fans were looking for in a follow-up campaign.

EMU went 5-2 in one-score games last season, but close game results this year couldn’t be in further contrast.

The Eagles are now 0-5 in games decided by seven points or fewer, including Saturday’s 20-17 overtime defeat to Western Michigan.

Meanwhile, the Broncos won their second overtime contest this season and showed a penchant for playing to the final whistle, with the best example coming from the team’s goal-line stand on EMU’s first possession of the extra session.
