But the Western Kentucky coach told the Daily News on Thursday that the running back’s comeback efforts are at “an impasse.”
Allen missed all but two games of the 2015 season and the entire 2016 campaign after suffering a gruesome knee injury in September of 2015.
Allen was a senior when that injury occurred. The Hilltopper took a redshirt season last year, then was granted a medical hardship waiver to attempt a comeback this fall.
Earning that sixth year of eligibility is contingent on Allen finishing his undergraduate requirements by the end of this summer. Allen is currently taking two summer school classes, Sanford said.
