Young Mountaineers Progress in Europe

The Mountaineers, which are the sixth youngest team in the nation this season, gained much needed experience before team practice begins in October. Carey’s squad was allotted 10 practices in July and August and four games against international competition. WVU went 4-0 during its tour of London, Barcelona and Madrid.

These extra practices came in handy as several Mountaineers were unable to practice and play during the tour. Bria Holmes and Arielle Roberson were held out for precautionary reasons, while sophomore Chania Ray is sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules. Senior forward Kayla Montgomery tore her ACL and is out for remainder of the season.
