(Story by Taylor Kennedy)

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Mountaineers 2021 recruiting class just got bigger. WVU picked up its 16th verbal commitment Friday evening. 3-star wide receiver Davis Mallinger announced his college decision the day he turns 18 years old.

Mallinger becomes the second WVU verbal commit. Running back Justin Johnson committed to the Mountaineers back on Sunday.

Mallinger originally committed to UCF back in June, but Mountaineer assistant coach Chad Scott pushed for Mallinger to play for WVU, and offered him a scholarship back in May.

Mallinger announced via Twitter that he would be continuing his athletic career at West Virginia Friday evening.
