WVU lineman allegedly forced his way into woman’s apartment

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– A senior offensive lineman for West Virginia University was arrested Sunday night Monongalia County. Russell Haughton-James, 22, was arrested on a single count of burglary by West Virginia State Police.

Troopers responded to a reported domestic violence situation at an apartment at Chateau Royale and the apartment door damaged. The victim, who told police she had been in a relationship with Haughton-James, said he was upset that she had ended the relationship. She told troopers Haughton-James had sent her text messages and came to the the apartment to collected his belongings.

Haughton-James allegedly forced his way into the apartment where the victim and another woman said he paced back and forth, smacked his hands together and said he didn’t care if he went to jail.
