To celebrate the 125th year of West Virginia Mountaineer Football, several stadium events have been announced. In past years, the school has designated one game to be the official "Gold Rush", where fans are encouraged to wear old gold to the game. The first Big 12 game of the year has typically been designated as "Stripe the Stadium". When ESPN Gameday visited Morgantown in 2014, the Mountaineers had their first ever "True Blue" game.
The Mountaineers game against Missouri to open the 2016 season will be the official "Gold Rush" game. Fans are encouraged to wear old gold to the games.
