WVU completes 2016 class with 3-star prospect West

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Lamont West, a 6-foot-7 forward who wields one of those late-bloomer storylines, committed to West Virginia on Thursday and claimed the final scholarship for next season.

Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals, West holds offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State and St. John’s, with Cincinnati, Ole Miss and Tennessee reportedly interested. This spring’s uptick in recruiting removed any thoughts he had about attending prep school and reclassifying for 2016.

West told Rivals writer Keenan Cummings that he canceled this weekend’s trip to Arkansas and planned to sign his national letter of intent Saturday.
