Winds Wreak Havoc at Big 12 Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Senior Alan Cooke and freshman Etienne Papineau led the West Virginia University golf team at 2017 Big 12 Championship, but wind gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour halted play midway through the first day of action at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.

With a wind advisory in effect, the second round of play was postponed until Tuesday morning. Golfers were scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, but play was suspended following the conclusion of the first round.

“It’s a challenging course to begin with, but extreme winds may it nearly unplayable today,” Coach Sean Covich said.
