West Virginia fills CBs coach vacancy with former Dolphins assistant

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — From a second wave of candidates, West Virginia found its cornerbacks coach late Monday afternoon, hiring former Miami Dolphins assistant Blue Adams.

Adams, 36, had moved from coaching defensive backs on Joe Philbin’s staff to a research analyst position under new Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.

Former Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin races defensive backs coach Blue Adams as they change practice fields at Miami’s training camp last August.

Brian Mitchell, who spent three seasons as West Virginia’s cornerbacks coach, left last month to join Justin Fuentes’ staff at Virginia Tech.
