The Shotgun/Throwdown: West Virginia’s Robby Porco named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

Welcome, By-Godders, to The Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU’s best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor, and daily distractions.

West Virginia freshman Robby Porco was named the Big 12 Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after an excellent performance in the first Big 12 start of his career against Kansas. He shared the honor with Kansas State sophomore Tyson Neighbors.

Porco helped the Mountaineers get a win in their series against Kansas on Sunday. The right-handed pitcher struck out 12 Jayhawk batters in six innings, which is the most strikeouts for a WVU pitcher this season. He also allowed just two runs, only one of which was earned, on just three hits during the game.
