MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following his performances at the 2015 Winter Airgun Championships, senior Garrett Spurgeon has been named the West Virginia University Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
In the first day of competition, Spurgeon advanced to the 10m air rifle men’s final, as he shot 622.0 in the open relay, the fourth-best score of the day. He finished fifth in the final with a 144.1 mark, earning him four additional points.
On day two, Spurgeon was the only Mountaineer that advanced to the open finals. He placed second in the 10m air rifle men’s open competition, shooting 623.
