The 22nd season in program history will feature a fresh spin, as the Mountaineers return to competition after reaching the NCAA College Cup final for the first time in 2016. Ranked No. 2 nationally at season end, WVU swept the Big 12 Conference titles for the third time in four years and earned a nation- and program-best 23 wins and 18 shutouts.

The buzz surrounding the Mountaineers is at an all-time high. Sixteen letterwinners and nine starters return for WVU, though noticeably absent are 2016 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy winner Kadeisha Buchanan, a five-time All-American, and two-time All-American Ashley Lawrence.
