No. 18 WVU Women Fall Short Against No. 16 Texas

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Another fourth quarter comeback attempt fell short, as the No. 18/19-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team fell, 73-63, to No. 16/17 Texas on Saturday in front of 4,118 fans at the WVU Coliseum.

The Mountaineers (14-4, 2-4) were outscored 43-24 in the second and third quarters, as the Longhorns (12-4, 6-0) built up their lead to 22 points. WVU used a 15-1 run over a four-minute span in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to eight points, 68-60, with 2:13 remaining. However, Texas scored five points in the final two minutes to secure the victory.
