Mountaineers put down TCU, 86-66

KANSAS CITY — Despite being outrebounded much go the game and lacking its usual turnover surplus, No. 9 West Virginia advanced to its first Big 12 semifinal by putting to rest last-place TCU.

With Devin Williams manning the middle and five players sinking 3-pointers, the Mountaineers owned the late stages in a 86-66 win that exorcised their Sprint Center jinx.

West Virginia (25-7) carries a five-game winning streak into Friday night’s game against the survivor of Iowa State and Oklahoma.

Along with 18 points and 13 rebounds from Williams, the Mountaineers got 15 points from Jevon Carter—highlighted by three 3s— and 13 from Tarik Phillip.
