Mountaineers play catch-up to beat Sooners 6-5

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After Jackson Cramer’s two-run seventh-inning homer surged West Virginia ahead, Justin Fox’s leaping grab on a line drive in the ninth preserved a 6-5 victory over Oklahoma on Saturday.

The Mountaineers (22-14, 5-6 Big 12) evened the three-game series at one win apiece by overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the first inning and rallying from down 5-3 in the seventh.

Oklahoma (25-16, 9-5) had won six of its past seven league games to climb into first place, but ace Alec Hansen couldn’t hold the early lead and couldn’t make it out of the fourth inning.
