MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia continued executing its halfcourt offense, carving up Baylor’s zone and curbing its own proclivities for turnovers.
The resulting 80-69 win on Saturday night made West Virginia the Big 12’s stand-alone leader and gave coach Bob Huggins positive vibes about 20 assists and 50-percent 3-point shooting.
Point guard Jevon Carter had a career-high eight assists, frequently ball-faking his perimeter shooters open. WVU made passes to big men stationed at the foul line, where they did damage from the middle of the zone.
Baylor, which had been giving up more than 72 points per game in conference action, wasn’t able to rely on WVU missing shots and created only 10 turnovers.
