MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A pair of West Virginia University golfers are in action this week, as Jon Ransone competed in the 2016 U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio, on Monday while Alan Cooke is currently participating in the 97th West Virginia Amateur Presented by Mercedes-Benz at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Paired with Gordon Vietmeier and the PGA TOUR’s Brian Stuard, Ransone carded a two-round score of 78-78=156 to finish 16 over par and in 54th place. He birdied one hole in his first round before adding three more in the final 18 holes.
