Check out salaries for West Virginia’s new football assistants

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Seven assistant coaches hired by new West Virginia football coach Neal Brown will receive considerable boosts in salary from their previous stops while also staying well within WVU’s staffing budget.

WVMetroNews received their contracts Tuesday via a Freedom of Information Act request to WVU.

Leading the way is defensive coordinator Vic Koenning, who will make $650,000 in the first year of his three-year contract.

Koenning’s deal is a considerable savings compared to outgoing defensive coordinator Tony Gibson, who was scheduled to make $950,000 in 2019.

It’s also quite a boost for Koenning, who made $300,000 as Troy’s defensive coordinator in 2018.
