Baseball Drops Midweek Contest in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 3-2 to Marshall on Tuesday evening in front of 2,263 fans at Appalachian Power Park.

West Virginia continued to have trouble getting out of the early innings as Marshall took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Matt Reed drove in Sergio Leon with a single to left field, followed by an RBI single to center field by Robert Fajardo to score Tyler Ratliff. Reed then scored on a wild pitch.

“Baseball people are superstitious people by nature,” coach Randy Mazey said.
