West Virginia University’s newest star student-athlete slowly sat down in front of a dozen or so reporters Tuesday afternoon inside the basketball practice facility to take about 20 minutes worth of questions – all of them soft and straight down the middle.
Her voice barely rose above a whisper as she answered such queries as the differences between collegiate and World Cup soccer (quite a bit, she basically said), or what it was like walking out into the stadium for the first time with a Team Canada jersey on in front of more than 50,000 people (she wasn’t that nervous), or how exhausting it is to compete in so many high-level soccer events over the last couple of months (it is pretty exhausting, she admitted).
