Offensive slump continues during 3-1 loss to Jayhawks

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Friday night fireworks that crackled and spiraled beyond the outfield wall were wasted on West Virginia freshman BJ Myers.

“After a win they’d be much better,” he said.

Despite another quality start, the right-hander dropped his second straight Big 12 series opener, falling 3-1 to Kansas before a crowd of 1,336 at the Monongalia County Ballpark.

West Virginia (23-16, 5-8) couldn’t rattle Kansas left-hander Ben Krauth, outside of Jackson Cramer’s RBI double in the first inning. The Mountaineers finished with only four hits and have averaged 2.5 runs during a six-game stretch.
