McNeil Jumps Career-Best on Day One

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Behind a career-best mark from Shamoya McNeil in the triple jump, the West Virginia University track and field team completed day one at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier this evening.

Only two Mountaineer student-athletes competed on Friday.

McNeil took first in the triple jump and posted a career-best mark in the event for the second straight weekend. The freshman recorded a leap of 12.51 meters to take first overall. Entering the weekend, the jump currently is tied for the 24th-best mark in the East Region this season and is fifth best among all freshmen.
